Your adventure begins! We pick you up bright and early from your Marsa Alam hotel for the comfortable drive to Luxor. Upon arrival, we dive straight into history with a visit to the East Bank's most famous sites before you check into your floating hotel.
Arrival in Luxor and Karnak Temple Visit
We arrive in Luxor and head straight for the magnificent Karnak Temple complex. Your guide will walk you through the Great Hypostyle Hall, explaining the history behind its massive columns and hieroglyphs. It's a real wow moment.
Exploring Luxor Temple
Next, we visit the beautiful Luxor Temple, which feels completely different at night if you ever get the chance to see it lit up. We'll explore its courtyards and see the mix of Pharaonic, Roman, and Islamic history all in one place.
Nile Cruise Check-in
With the day's touring done, we take you to the ship. You'll check in, settle into your cabin, and enjoy your first delicious dinner on board. The boat will be docked in Luxor for the night.
Today is all about the famous West Bank of Luxor, the ancient necropolis for pharaohs and nobles. After a morning of discovery, we return to the ship and begin our scenic journey south along the Nile.
Valley of the Kings Tour
After an early breakfast, we cross to the West Bank to explore the world-famous Valley of the Kings. Your ticket includes entry to three of the open tombs. Your guide will recommend the best ones to visit, pointing out the stunning, well-preserved colors inside.
Hatshepsut's Terraced Temple
Next, we visit the unique Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a stunning structure built into the cliffside. The architecture is just incredible, and the story of Egypt's most powerful female pharaoh is truly fascinating.
Colossi of Memnon Photo Stop
Before heading back to the ship, we make a quick stop at the Colossi of Memnon. These two huge statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III have been sitting here for over 3,400 years. They make for a great photo opportunity.
Setting Sail on the Nile
Back on board, we enjoy lunch as the ship sets sail towards Edfu. The afternoon is yours to relax on the sun deck, take a dip in the pool, and watch the lush green banks of the Nile pass by. It's pure relaxation.
We wake up in Edfu to visit one of Egypt's best-preserved temples. Then, it's back on the water for a leisurely sail to Kom Ombo, home to a unique temple dedicated to two different gods, before continuing to Aswan.
Edfu's Temple of Horus
This morning, we visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu. It's the most complete temple in all of Egypt, and it really gives you an idea of what these places looked like in their prime. Your guide will show you the key features of its massive pylon and detailed carvings.
Kom Ombo's Double Temple
After lunch, we arrive at Kom Ombo. We'll visit the temple dedicated to two gods: the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus. It's perfectly symmetrical, with one side for each god. We also see the nearby Crocodile Museum.
Evening Sail to Aswan
As the sun sets, we continue our journey to Aswan. Enjoy dinner on board and maybe a drink at the bar as we sail through the quietest, most beautiful part of the Nile. You'll dock in Aswan overnight.
Today is dedicated to Aswan's most beautiful and important landmarks. You have the morning to explore with our guide, and the afternoon is free for you to relax or take the highly recommended optional trip to Abu Simbel.
The Island Temple of Philae
Our first stop is the stunning Temple of Philae, which was rescued from the rising waters of the Nile and moved to its current island home. We take a small motorboat to get there, which is part of the fun. It's one of the most romantic spots in Egypt.
The Unfinished Obelisk
We then visit the Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarries. This massive obelisk cracked while being carved and was abandoned, giving us a fascinating peek into the techniques of ancient stonemasons. You can't help but be amazed by the scale of it.
Optional Abu Simbel Excursion
For those who choose the optional tour, you'll travel south to see the incredible temples of Abu Simbel, built by Ramesses II. It's an early start and a long day, but trust us, seeing these colossal statues is absolutely worth it.
Enjoy one last breakfast on the Nile before we say goodbye to the cruise ship. We'll then begin the comfortable journey back to your hotel in Marsa Alam, filled with memories of your ancient Egyptian adventure.
Final Breakfast on the Nile
Wake up in Aswan and enjoy your final breakfast on board. It's a great time to swap photos and stories with fellow travelers you've met along the way.
Check-out and Transfer to Marsa Alam
After breakfast, you'll check out from your cabin. Our driver will be waiting to take you on the return journey to Marsa Alam, marking the end of your fantastic Nile Cruise From Marsa Alam. We'll have you back at your hotel in the afternoon.
Is the long drive from Marsa Alam to Luxor worth it?
Absolutely. While it's a few hours on the road, we make it comfortable in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. This is the best way to experience a classic Nile Cruise From Marsa Alam without missing any of the iconic sights between Luxor and Aswan.
What is the best time of year for this cruise?
The best time is from October to April when the weather is mild and pleasant, perfect for sightseeing. The summer months (June to August) can be very hot, but our tours run year-round and all sites and vehicles are air-conditioned.
Are drinks included in the full board package?
The full board plan includes your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All drinks, including water, soft drinks, tea, coffee, and alcoholic beverages, are extra and can be paid for at the end of your cruise.
How much should I budget for tips?
Tipping is customary in Egypt and is a way of showing appreciation for good service. We can give you a recommendation on an appropriate amount for your guide and the cruise crew, but it is entirely at your discretion.
Is the optional trip to Abu Simbel recommended?
We highly recommend it for anyone interested in ancient history. The temples are spectacular and among Egypt's most famous landmarks. It makes for a long day, but it’s a highlight that truly completes the Nile Cruise From Marsa Alam experience.
What should I wear for temple visits?
We suggest light, modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees out of respect for the ancient sites. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are essential as you'll be walking on uneven ground.
